Ali Akbar Khan was the court musician of the Maharaja of Jodphur, a MacArthur ‘Genius Grant’ recipient, and was called the Bach of India by the Washington Post. Khan was a key influence of the Beatles, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, and Santana. This 2 CD set is now available.
Lon Moshe & Southern Freedom Arkestra - Love Is Where the Spirit Lies (Strut)
Official archive of Black Fire, Jimmy Gray's seminal independent soul and jazz label from Richmond, VA circa 1975 to 1993. Working from original master tapes and unreleased sessions, vibraphonist Lon Moshe and the Southern Freedom Arkestra 1977 release has just been reissued by Strut and available now on CD, LP, and Digital.
